Forklift Operator

We are looking for experienced and reliable Forklift Operators to join our team at Phoenix Metal Recyclers NZ Limited. Our growing business requires organised and trustworthy individuals who take pride in quality workmanship and are motivated to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely to load, unload, move, and stack materials
• Receive and transport scrap metal within the yard efficiently
• Sort and separate scrap materials (ferrous and non-ferrous) into designated areas
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard
• Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance issues
• Accurately record materials, weights, and movements
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors
• Follow all health & safety procedures and environmental regulations
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• 3 years' relevant forklift operating work experience, OR
• A Level 4 qualification or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) in a relevant field and at least 1 year forklift operating experience

Additionally, applicants must have:

• A current forklift licence/ Certification
• Proven ability to safely operate forklifts in an industrial or yard environment
• Good physical fitness (ability to lift up to 20kg)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and criminal background check
• Previous scrap metal or metal recycling experience is advantageous but not essential.

Location: The Forklift Operator may be required to work across Marlborough,Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Whangerei, Auckland, Waikato,Manawatū-Whanganui, Wellington

This role will be a permanent and full-time job.

A minimum of 30 hours of work are guaranteed.

Houly rate depending on experience: $30-$35ph
