About The Business
The team provides accounting and finance expertise to TSA to support sound decision making. The team works with leaders and their teams so that they understand their financial performance, position and viability and the cause of budget and forecasting variances. The team supports TSA with its financial management, financial operations, use of systems and coordinates the budgeting and forecasting process.
The team provides timely, relevant, and accurate financial information and advice which is consistent with The Salvation Army’s strategic direction, and which meets internal and external accountability requirements.
About The Role
The position is responsible for managing the Financial Accounting Team, overseeing core financial accounting functions, and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. The role also partners closely with the Property Department and Regional Centres to support Capital and Major Works (CMW) planning, funding and governance.

Our Ideal Candidate Will
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, supported by at least seven years relevant experience in a large or complex organisation
- CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience in designing and developing system-generated financial reports is an advantage.
- Strong financial analysis and financial modelling capabilities.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to present data clearly through both numerical outputs and insightful written commentary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Technology One Financials or a comparable enterprise accounting system.
- Solid understanding of accounting standards and principles, including NZ GAAP and the applicable NZ PBE standards.
- Strong knowledge of accounting procedures, policies, and internal control frameworks.
- Good understanding of GST legislation and experience ensuring compliance with relevant tax requirement

This role is permanent and hours worked will be 37.5 per week.
The starting salary for this role will fall between $102,565 and $147,436
