About The Role

What if your expertise in data governance could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems understand biotech and clinical research? We're looking for a Biotech Health Data Governance Lead to ensure that the data powering scientific discovery, regulatory submissions, and life sciences AI is accurate, traceable, secure, and compliant.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for experienced professionals who understand the high stakes of governed data in regulated research environments.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Govern biotech research and clinical trial datasets to ensure accuracy, lineage, and full auditability for scientific analysis and regulatory submissions
  • Define, document, and enforce data policies covering classification, access controls, security standards, and metadata management across research, clinical, regulatory, and partner teams
  • Enable secure, governed access to sensitive datasets for analytics, innovation, and external collaborations — while protecting confidential and patient-related information
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues that could compromise research integrity or compliance posture
  • Collaborate with scientific, IT, compliance, and business stakeholders to align data standards, workflows, and governance frameworks
  • Support data annotation, evaluation, and quality processes that feed into AI training pipelines

Who You Are

  • Experienced in leading or implementing data governance programs within biotech, life sciences, clinical research, or other regulated data environments
  • Deeply knowledgeable about data privacy, security, compliance, and regulatory expectations for research and clinical trial data (e.g., HIPAA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11)
  • A skilled cross-functional collaborator — equally comfortable working with scientists, IT architects, compliance officers, and business leads
  • Detail-oriented and systematic — you understand that in regulated research, the integrity of the data is the integrity of the science
  • Self-directed and capable of owning governance initiatives from design through implementation

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality frameworks, or AI training data evaluation
  • Familiarity with clinical data standards such as CDISC, HL7, or FHIR
  • Background working with biobanks, genomics data, or electronic data capture (EDC) systems
  • Experience supporting regulatory submissions (FDA, EMA) with data governance artifacts

Why Join Us

  • Work at the intersection of life sciences and cutting-edge AI — your governance work directly enables better science and smarter AI
  • Fully remote and flexible — structure your hours around your life, not the other way around
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, high-impact project work
  • Collaborate with world-leading AI research teams and life sciences organizations
  • Potential for contract extension as projects grow and evolve
