We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data and Automation team within the Strategy Puni. This is a pivotal role providing leadership, technical expertise, and high-quality advice to support evidence-informed decision-making across Te Puni Kōkiri and the wider public sector.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will:
- Lead the development and delivery of data and automation solutions that anticipate future needs and inform policy to improve outcomes for Māori.
- Apply advanced analytical and automation methods to produce authoritative data and information products.
- Increase Te Puni Kōkiri’s analytical and visualisation capability, ensuring stakeholders have access to well-managed, high-quality information.
- Work collaboratively across teams and with stakeholders and external partners to strengthen data governance and innovation.
The likely appointment range is $104,317 - $115,907 based on skills and experience. The full grade for this role is $104,317 - $139,088 with a mid-point of $115,907.

- You have proven experience in advanced data analysis, automation, and data warehousing, with strong Power BI and SQL skills – and you love turning complexity into clarity.
- You have a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline (for example: statistics, data science, or computer science) and 3-5 years’ experience working as a data analyst or data scientist
- You understand stakeholder needs and can translate them into practical, actionable data solutions that drive better outcomes.
- You’re skilled at managing complex projects and delivering high-quality outputs in fast-moving environments.
- You demonstrate leadership and influence, working confidently across diverse teams and disciplines.
- You’re passionate about using data to make a difference for Māori and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- You understand te ao Māori and are committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Te reo Māori is valued, and we encourage all kaimahi to continue building their capability.
