Ventia is looking for a hands-on Construction Project Manager to join our team in the stunning Bay of Islands. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful infrastructure projects while enjoying work-life balance, long-term stability, and a fantastic lifestyle.
About The Role
Based in Puketona (Paihia area), you will take the lead in delivering civil infrastructure projects across the Far North, with a strong focus on roading works, along with associated construction activities.
This is a hands-on, site-driven role where you will be regularly on-site, actively involved in the day-to-day delivery of projects. You’ll be expected to be visible, present, and engaged with crews, providing leadership and direction to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. Working closely with clients, field teams, and the Construction Manager, you will oversee project delivery from both a practical and leadership perspective, coordinating resources, resolving issues on the ground, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and performance are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver projects safely, on time, and to a high standard
- Plan and manage resources, plant, and materials
- Monitor performance and mitigate risks
- Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost control
- Interpret drawings and support site set-out
- Provide technical leadership to teams
- Build strong client relationships
- Support pricing, tenders, and contract risk evaluation
- Drive SHEQ performance and Safe for Life culture
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
About You
- Strong experience in project management (civil/construction)
- Confident working on-site and in the field
- Strong financial and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in roading or other transport infrastructure projects (desirable)
- Knowledge of NZS3910 contracts (desirable)
Qualifications
- Class 1 Driver Licence
- Civil Engineering qualification (or equivalent)
- Intermediate MS Office skills
