Mō te tūranga | About the Role

As an Associate Product Owner, you’ll lead the delivery of service outcomes for your assigned squad(s). Your focus will be on translating customer and business needs into a prioritised product backlog, enabling effective and predictable value delivery while using data and insights to continuously enhance the user experience.

You will be responsible for defining deliverables aligned to the Platform roadmap, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, and supports operational stability. You’ll drive squad decision-making, remove impediments, and maintain a consistent delivery rhythm, while championing risk mitigation, customer value and outcomes.

In This Role, You Will

  • Define and evolve a service roadmap using demand trends and insights
  • Lead delivery of outcomes, ensuring safe, compliant, and stable services
  • Drive squad decision-making and resolve impediments or escalations
  • Champion customer value, ensuring solutions meet customer and business needs
  • Lead prioritisation trade-offs, balancing squad and business objectives
  • Drive service and experience discovery, including hypothesis development and validation
  • Build stakeholder alignment across business and technical teams
  • Manage risk and compliance requirements in partnership with the squad
  • Maintain a healthy, prioritised backlog aligned to outcomes
  • Enable squad performance and agile maturity

You will bring strong capability across service management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement, along with a clear focus on customer and business outcomes.

You Will Have

  • Capability in problem solving, planning (tactical and strategic), and situational awareness
  • Experience across product and service management, agile delivery, and human-centred thinking
  • A strong technical background in application, integration and SaaS
  • Understanding of risk management, data and analytics, and AI literacy
  • Strong skills in decision making, critical thinking, persuading and influencing
  • Ability to coach, support change, and enable squad performance
  • The ability to apply domain expertise to prioritisation and delivery decisions
