WISE CONTRACTING SOLUTIONS LIMITED

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook (1-2) responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food to a high standard while maintaining food safety, hygiene, and quality control procedures. The role includes assisting with kitchen operations, stock management, cleaning duties, and customer service as required. This role is key in maintaining service standards, supporting staff, and ensuring smooth front-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation and Cooking

  • Prepare and cook a variety of menu items in accordance with recipes, dietary

requirements, and customer preferences.

  • Portion, season, and cook food using appropriate cooking methods including baking,

grilling, roasting, frying, steaming, and boiling.

  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Monitor food preparation and cooking times to ensure meals are served promptly.
  • Assist in developing and improving menu items and specials.
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
  • Store food safely and rotate stock using first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles.

Kitchen Operations

  • Organise and prepare ingredients and workstations before service periods.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and checking deliveries of food supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management.
  • Minimise food wastage through efficient preparation and storage practices.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues when identified.

Food Safety and Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, company policies, and health and

safety requirements.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, labelling, and disposal of food products.
  • Maintain accurate food temperature records where required.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures at all times.

Cleaning and Housekeeping Duties

  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, benches, ovens, grills, refrigerators, and storage

areas.

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils as required.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean and organised throughout shifts.
  • Dispose of rubbish and recycling according to workplace procedures.
  • Assist with deep-cleaning tasks and end-of-day kitchen shutdown procedures.

Customer Service and Serving Duties

  • Assist with serving food and beverages to customers when required.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure accurate and timely

service.

  • Respond professionally to customer enquiries regarding menu items and dietary

requirements.

  • Assist in packaging takeaway orders and checking order accuracy.

Teamwork and General Duties

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
  • Assist with training new staff in food preparation and workplace procedures where

required.

  • Attend staff meetings and participate in workplace training.
  • Perform other reasonable duties within the scope of the position as directed by

management.

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Minimum of 1 years experience or atleast level 4 related qualification

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment.

- 30 to 45 hours per week - the ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
