About the role
We're looking for a confident and detail-focused Permit to Work Advisor to join our team in a permanent role supporting critical permit-to-work activity in a safety-sensitive Airport environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with health and safety knowledge who enjoys balancing operational support, site auditing, and process improvement.
You may already be working as a Health & Safety Coordinator/Advisor or bring relevant aviation or operational safety experience with a strong interest in permit-to-work practices. We're looking for someone who can work independently and as part of a supportive team, build trust quickly, communicate with confidence, and bring a practical, tech-savvy mindset to improving systems and ways of working.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Review, assess, and issue Permits to Work (PTW), Ground Penetration Certificates (GPC), Traffic Management Plans (TMP), and overweight/dimension permits, ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements and Auckland Airport standards, with risks clearly identified and effectively controlled.
- Maintain and continuously improve PTW, GPC, and TMP system documentation, ensuring all records, procedures, and supporting materials remain accurate, current, and compliant.
- Provide clear guidance and technical advice to internal and external stakeholders on the requirements, conditions, and controls associated with PTW, GPC, and TMP applications during both the review and issuance stages.
- Conduct inspections of permitted works at the point of issue and throughout the duration of the activity to verify compliance with permit conditions, confirm controls remain effective, and ensure work is carried out safely.
- Lead or contribute to the development, review, and improvement of PTW, GPC, and TMP processes, tools, and initiatives, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Participate in or lead incident investigations involving PTW, GPC, or TMP‑related activities, ensuring accurate identification of root causes and contributing to corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the wider Health, Safety & Wellbeing team, including assisting with risk assessments, incident reviews, and other safety initiatives that contribute to a strong safety culture across the organisation.
What you'll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
- 2-3 years minimum experience in Health, Safety and Wellbeing/consulting/advisory or Aviation Safety or similar.
- Experience in writing/editing of Job Safety Analysis documents or similar
- Experience in building effective and constructive relationships
- Attention to detail and an interest in continuous improvement initiatives
