At EnviroNZ, we’re passionate about helping New Zealanders embrace sustainable living by delivering innovative waste and recycling solutions. As we continue to strengthen our presence in the Upper South Island, we’re looking for a Business Development Manager to identify, secure, and grow new business opportunities across the region.
About This Role
Based in our Christchurch Office, this is a regionally focused role responsible for driving commercial growth. You’ll lead the full sales process — from identifying opportunities through to tenders, negotiations, and onboarding.
Working closely with Operations, you’ll shape practical, commercially sound solutions that meet customer needs. You’ll also take ownership of new accounts in the early stages, ensuring a smooth transition and setting the foundation for long-term success.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Win new business opportunities across the Upper South Island
- Lead tenders, proposals, and negotiations
- Oversee onboarding and early-stage account management
- Maintain an active pipeline and provide market insights
- Present relevant, well-considered solutions to customers
- Work closely with Operations and internal teams to deliver outcomes
What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience in business development, with a track record of securing and growing accounts
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen, build rapport, and navigate commercial conversations
- A proactive, self-driven approach — someone who gets out there and makes things happen
- A structured, methodical way of working, with strong attention to detail across tenders or large documents
- The ability to think broadly and bring practical solutions to customers
- A long-term approach to building and maintaining relationships
- Experience in waste or related industries such as environmental services, construction, or transport (advantageous)
- A collaborative approach and comfort working cross-functionally
- Experience with RFP processes is beneficial, but not essential
What We Offer
- A key regional role with real impact
- Autonomy to grow your portfolio and shape outcomes
- A good pay package and commission structure with company vehicle and tools of the trade
- An inclusive, down-to-earth culture where people genuinely collaborate and share success
- The backing of a larger global organisation, with the feel of a close-knit, local team
- A forward-looking business focused on innovation and building a strong future
