This is a pivotal role at the heart of Council’s capital delivery and strategic programme and project execution. The PMO is undergoing significant evolution—moving towards a more mature, consistent, and high-performing project delivery environment—and the PMO Lead will play a critical role in making that vision a reality.

The opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced PMO Lead to guide and elevate our Project Management Office within the Commercial Services team.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of DCC’s project portfolio, including our Long-Term Plan and high-value capital programme. You’ll provide direction, oversight, and structure — enabling projects to be delivered on time, on budget, and with impact.
You’ll play a key role in:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the PMO and building a high-performing team
- Enabling effective planning, scheduling, and resource allocation across projects
- Driving consistent use of project management frameworks, tools, and governance
- Delivering clear, insightful reporting to support Executive Leadership decision-making
- Partnering across the organisation to improve programme performance and delivery outcomes
- Supporting the evolution of PMO strategy aligned to DCC priorities

About you
You’re a seasoned PMO leader who thrives on complexity, builds strong teams, and knows how to turn strategy into delivery.
You’ll bring:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) leading PMOs, programmes, or major project portfolios, ideally in complex environments
- A relevant tertiary qualification and recognised project management methodologies (PRINCE2, PMI, Agile)
- Proven capability delivering large-scale, high-risk, high-value projects
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting and business case development
- Experience implementing programme governance, controls, and reporting frameworksExceptional stakeholder management skills across senior leaders and technical teamsA track record of leading teams, building capability, and driving continuous improvement
You’re equally comfortable zooming into detail or stepping back to see the big picture — and you bring others with you along the way.

Salary range: $111,538 - $131,2221
