The Opportunity

This role has been created to further strengthen and grow the organisation's presence within Wellington's CBD market.

You will take ownership of a defined territory stretching from Ngauranga Gorge through to Miramar, with a strong concentration of customers in the central city. The territory is compact and highly accessible, allowing for regular face-to-face customer engagement and effective account coverage.

The CBD customer base differs significantly from suburban Wellington. Many customers operate within the hospitality sector, including restaurants, bars, cafés, and owner-operated businesses that often begin later and finish later than traditional office-based organisations. You'll also target commercial offices, retail businesses, and a broad range of SME customers.

Success in this role requires flexibility, visibility, and a genuine willingness to meet customers when and where they are available.

This is a highly relationship-focused sales position where face-to-face prospecting remains critical. Cold calling, door knocking, and in-person meetings will be central to building a successful territory.

You will be responsible for promoting and selling a range of commercial service solutions, including:

  • Bin-based service solutions
  • Scheduled collection services
  • Skip bin and temporary service options
  • Small office and site-based solutions

What We're Looking For The successful candidate will:

  • Live in, or within easy access of, Wellington CBD
  • Be confident, personable, and comfortable engaging with business owners and decision-makers
  • Enjoy face-to-face selling and building relationships from the ground up
  • Be self-motivated, organised, and outcomes-focused
  • Possess strong relationship-building and customer engagement skills
  • Value teamwork and collaborate effectively with both operations and the wider sales team
  • Understand the importance of balancing new business development with long-term customer retention and service delivery

Previous experience selling into commercial environments is advantageous, particularly where service agreements or contracts are involved. However, attitude, resilience, and a proactive approach will be equally important.
