Marketing Lead

Banqer

Banqer

At Banqer, we believe every student should be empowered to financially thrive.

More than 750,000 students across Australasia have experienced our classroom-based financial education, brought to life through real-world financial simulations that make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful.

We make delivering world-leading financial education easy, equipping teachers with innovative tools to deliver impactful learning experiences that prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

With education and people at our core, and technology as our enabler, we're here to create meaningful impact in communities while building a commercially strong and sustainable business.

The Role

We're looking for a Marketing Lead to join our small, collaborative team and drive Banqer's growth across Australia and New Zealand.

After a period of change in our marketing function, we're ready for the right person to come in and build on what we've put in place, shaping how we go to market, and leading the execution that turns strategy into results.

You'll report to the CEO, work alongside our Marketing Specialist, and collaborate closely with our Sales team.

This is a role for someone who's equally comfortable shaping strategy and doing the work. You'll set the direction and lead the execution, [then roll up your sleeves to] work alongside our Marketing Specialist rather than delegating and stepping back.

At 6 months, success looks like a measurable lift in marketing-sourced leads; clearer visibility of performance, along with insights into what is working / not; and a Marketing Specialist who's growing under your guidance.

You'll be responsible for building demand and improving conversion, helping Banqer consistently acquire new schools and grow usage across our platforms.

This is a part-time role, 24 hours per week. We're open to a permanent arrangement or a long-term contract engagement. The structure matters less than finding the right person. We'd love to have you working from our Christchurch office, with hours that can be spread across the week to work around other commitments.

If you're excited by purposeful work, enjoy working alongside good people, and want to make a meaningful difference in education, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing strategy: Work with the CEO in developing the CEO in developing and communicating a clear, actionable marketing strategy grounded in audience personas, ensuring alignment across the team.
  • Market and trend insight: Stay on top of trends in financial education, K–12 education, competitor activity, and regulatory change, sharing insights with Sales, Customer Success, and Product.
  • Campaign execution: Design, execute, and optimise campaigns across event-based marketing, account-based marketing (including direct mail), community-based acquisition, and email nurture campaigns to engage and convert prospective customers.
  • Sales collaboration: Partner with Sales to design and deliver campaigns that attract and convert schools, supporting sales targets with strong lead flow and marketing enablement.
  • Brand and positioning: Strengthen Banqer's positioning and presence, clearly communicating our value and what makes us different.
  • Content management: Maintain a clear and useful content library, and oversee the creation of new content across channels to support marketing goals.
  • CRM implementation: Support the rollout of HubSpot as Banqer's CRM, helping to establish lead management processes, campaign integrations, and reporting that set the marketing function up for growth.
  • Process and systems: Improve campaign, lead management, and content distribution processes to support scale and consistency.
  • Performance measurement: Track and report on key marketing performance metrics, using results and feedback to refine strategies and improve conversion.
  • Partner activation: Support the execution of partnership deliverables and co-marketing commitments under the direction of the CEO.

In your first three months, three priorities will sit at the top of the list: driving lead generation for Banqer High; developing and implementing a product marketing strategy for our redeveloped primary school platform; and building on the reporting foundations to track and communicate marketing performance.

Requirements

You're an experienced marketer who enjoys both strategy and hands-on work. You like solving problems, connecting with people, and helping a team tell a great story. But you're also commercially minded, and you care about driving tangible results, generating demand, and turning attention into action.

Here’s what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Relevant experience: You've led marketing efforts in a similar role, ideally in software or a start-up/scale-up, with a track record of driving commercial outcomes.
  • Great communicator: You express ideas clearly, both in writing and in person, and build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Self-starter: You're proactive, organised, and able to work independently while still being a great team collaborator.
  • High EQ: You're thoughtful, empathetic, and work well with a wide range of people and partners.
  • Data curious: You enjoy digging into results to understand what's working and what could be better, and you use insights to refine your approach.
  • Strong time management: You're comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities, and you consistently meet deadlines.
  • Resilient: You stay grounded under pressure and take ownership of outcomes, learning quickly from what doesn't work.
  • Leadership mindset: You support and uplift those around you, whether or not you've led a team formally.
  • Tool-savvy: You're familiar with key marketing platforms and CRMs, and you enjoy learning new tools (experience with ActiveCampaign and HubSpot is a bonus).
  • Collaborative in-office culture: You embrace an office-first culture, working shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues to foster a collaborative and engaging work environment.
  • Purpose-driven: You're motivated by Banqer's mission to help students thrive financially through real-world learning.

Benefits

At Banqer, we're proud of the team we've built. People here are connected to the purpose, work with real autonomy, and genuinely support each other, without the silos or politics that slow other teams down.

We work hard, and we know when to switch off. Every quarter we get out of the office together: escape rooms, bouldering, soap making, and a ping pong competition that gets more competitive every year. We celebrate wins, professional and personal, and birthdays get a cake (and on occasion, a billboard).

You'll also get to see the impact of your work firsthand, through school visits where you can see Banqer in action with students and teachers.

We also offer a great office location near Lincoln Road eateries, with free on-site parking and flexible work hours if you need to start early, finish late, or step out for the school run.
