Electronic Monitoring Video Analyst

Role type: Permanent Part-Time, 32 hours per week

Location: Wellington City

General Salary Range G: $67,658 - $78,771 depending on skills and experience, pro-rated for part-time hours

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

An important role, as an Electronic Monitoring Video Analyst (EMVA) you provide support to and are part of the audit process of fishing industry practices. EMVAs assist with verification services for Fisheries New Zealand, Fisheries Compliance, and the Department of Conservation by reviewing video footage from commercial fishing vessels and annotating the activities observed.

In this role, you will also:

  • Maintain high-quality data and reporting standards by accurately classifying and recording observations within established processes
  • Support fisheries audit and compliance functions, helping verify industry practices and adherence to management measures under the On-board Cameras programme
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance systems, processes, and ways of working, and participating in projects as a subject matter expert

About You - Mōu

We need people who have strong attention to detail, with the proven ability to work efficiently and diligently and who can follow processes with minimal supervision. You must be able to build and maintain successful working relationships and have the drive to meet deadlines, along with a natural interest in continuous improvement.

Ideally you will have a working knowledge of inshore commercial fishing operations and you will enjoy working in a high performing collaborative team environment.

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

In this role you'll be working with a team of 5-6 other Electronic Monitoring Video Analysts. You'll get to work with intelligent and passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, a range of other NZ Government agencies, Tangata Whenua, and industry bodies.

This role does require that you work Monday to Friday in the MPI Wellington Office.
