Tā mātou arawātea | Our Opportunity
Our generation assets are at the heart of a more sustainable future and we’re looking for a Specialist Engineer – Rotating Equipment, to help keep some of New Zealand’s most important renewable energy infrastructure performing at its best.
This is a senior technical role for someone who knows rotating equipment inside out and wants the opportunity to be the subject matter expert across a complex, high value asset portfolio. You’ll be the go-to mechanical engineering authority for Mercury’s wider rotating equipment assets, including compressors, drills, pumps and other dynamic equipment. While our turbines sit outside the direct scope of this role, you’ll work closely with the relevant specialists where equipment and plant performance overlap.
You’ll provide specialist engineering advice, set and govern engineering standards, guide asset performance improvement, support outage planning, and lead or support investigations into complex equipment issues. You’ll also play an important role in building capability across the wider engineering community through coaching, mentoring and communities of practice.
This role is based at our Rotorua office placing you close to our geothermal assets. You’ll have the freedom work across a wide variety of technically interesting equipment and sites, from complex fault finding through to long-term asset strategy. This is a role where you’ll be close to the heart of the problem, trusted for your technical judgement, and supported by a high-performing engineering team.
We support flexible ways of working. Depending on the work required, your week could include time on site, collaboration in the office, working from home and flexibility around start and finish times.
