Software Specialist - Development

We’re looking for a Software Specialist (C#, .NET) to join our Interbank squad, working on large-scale backend systems that support core banking and international payment services.

This is a hybrid role, with 2–3 days per week in our Albany office.

About The Role

You’ll be part of a high-performing engineering Payments squad building and running cloud-native backend services in a highly secure and regulated environment.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll design and deliver modern solutions using the latest C# and .NET, working across event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, and well-designed API services on Azure.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product owners and security stakeholders to deliver reliable, testable systems that operate at scale.

Key focus areas

• Design, build and support backend services using C# and .NET
• Develop cloud-native solutions on Azure (Functions, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, Key Vault)
• Work with event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, and patterns such as event/command and orchestration
• Build well-designed APIs (request/response and integration services)
• Embed automated testing, quality and resilience into everything you deliver
• Contribute to technical design, engineering patterns and standards
• Operate in an Agile Scrum team with end-to-end ownership

About You

We’re looking for a senior engineer who is comfortable working in complex, enterprise environments and taking ownership of critical systems.

You’ll Bring

• Strong experience with C# /.NET backend development
• Hands-on experience building cloud-native solutions, microservices, Azure Integration Services (PaaS services).
• Experience working with event-driven architecture and messaging systems
• Strong understanding of API design and integration patterns
• Strong hands-on experience with automated testing and building reliable, production-grade systems
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Ability to operate effectively in secure (OWASP), regulated environments with a strong focus on quality, risk and resilience

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Service Bus or similar messaging platforms
• Exposure to Cosmos DB or distributed data systems
• Experience in financial services or payments
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Copilot)
