We're looking for a Senior Security Operations Analyst to join our Security Operations Centre (SOC). You'll work alongside a supportive team and our managed security service partner, helping protect the digital and operational technology that underpins New Zealand's energy future.
This is a hands-on technical role where you'll lead investigations, build and tune detections, apply automation, and help shape how our SOC continues to evolve.
Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:
- Developing and refining detection logic across our SIEM and security tooling, and conducting proactive threat hunting
- Leading incident investigations end-to-end, including root-cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Applying automation and AI-assisted capability to streamline security workflows
- Contributing to detection, monitoring and response across operational technology (OT) environments
- Supporting our vulnerability and exposure management programme
- Mentoring team members and sharing technical knowledge across the SOC
- Providing technical input into our security partner relationships
- Contributing to security reporting and identifying opportunities to improve how we work
This role participates in an on-call roster as part of our 24/7 security operations model.
Tā mātou e kimi nei | We are looking for:
- 3+ years' experience in a security operations or security engineering role
- Hands-on knowledge of SIEM and endpoint detection platforms in a Microsoft-centric environment
- Experience writing detection logic in KQL or a comparable query language
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and modern detection approaches
- Scripting experience in Python, PowerShell or similar
- Strong investigation skills across endpoint, identity, cloud and network telemetry
- Self starter who communicates clearly — written and verbal — for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable with AI & Automation
- Exposure to operational technology (OT) or industrial control systems security is a bonus
- Relevant certifications (such as SC-200 or AZ-500) are a plus
