About the role | Ko te kaupapa

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clerk of Works to join our Water Services team based in Rolleston. This role is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that drinking water and wastewater construction and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with approved designs, specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

This role involves overseeing on-site construction and maintenance works for water and wastewater infrastructure. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, monitoring compliance, preparing reports, and coordinating effectively with contractors and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure construction practices, relevant legislation, and quality standards. You will be confident in interpreting technical documentation, maintaining accurate records, engaging with stakeholders, and applying sound problem-solving skills, while consistently promoting health and safety best practices.

What you’ll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in civil infrastructure inspection, supervision, or construction.
  • Experience in drinking water and wastewater projects essential.
  • Experience working on municipal or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with pressure testing, chlorination/disinfection procedures, and commissioning.
  • Experience using asset management and inspection software.
  • Physically fit and self-motivated
  • Health and Safety conscious with a positive attitude
