PowerNet is on a mission to electrify Queenstown and support the transition to a low-carbon energy future. We are looking for a Development Manager based in Queenstown to lead this transformation – driving growth, building partnerships and helping shape how energy supports one of New Zealand’s fastest growing regions.

About The Role

This is a unique, strategic role where you will be at the forefront of decarbonisation and electrification initiatives, working closely with key stakeholders across the Central Otago region and Southland.

As a Development Manager, You Will

  • Lead and promote Lakeland Network and PowerNet’s vision for electrifying Queenstown and the neighbouring regions
  • Identify and develop new growth opportunities and major developments
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with councils, developers, businesses and the community.
  • Support long-term energy transition and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Act as PowerNet’s local representative and advocate in Queenstown.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone who has electricity industry experience, is commercially savvy and deeply connected to the Queenstown region.

You Will Ideally Have

  • A background in Electrical Engineering, Commerce and/or Economics
  • Experience in infrastructure, utilities and development environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • An understanding of electrification, sustainability and decarbonisation trends
  • The ability to identify growth opportunities and influence outcomes

  • Well connected in the local community
  • A proactive, strategic thinker who can turn ideas into action
