This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing, tight-knit Procurement team delivering impactful work across Kāinga Ora.

As a Senior Procurement Specialist, you’ll play a key role in leading end-to-end procurement activities across a portfolio of projects—supporting the organisation to deliver high-quality, cost-effective outcomes for New Zealand communities. From shaping sourcing strategies through to managing market engagements, negotiations and supplier relationships, your work will have real impact.

You’ll partner closely with business units across Kāinga Ora, building strong relationships to understand needs and translate them into effective procurement approaches. You’ll also contribute to the development of procurement strategy, category management and continuous improvement across processes and systems.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery—leading procurement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on value for money, quality and compliance.

This role will suit an experienced procurement professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building strong relationships to deliver value for money outcomes.

You Will Demonstrate

  • Experience leading end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities, ideally within complex or large-scale environments
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to partner effectively across internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Sound commercial acumen, including experience with sourcing strategies, negotiations and supplier management
  • Strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to bring people together to achieve outcomes
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to balance strategic thinking with delivery
  • Experience in construction and/or infrastructure procurement is advantageous, but not essential.
  • You’ll also bring a collaborative mindset and enjoy working as part of a high-performing team environment, contributing to shared success and continuous improvement.
