About The Team

The Finance Team is responsible for the overall financial management and support processes within Airways, including transaction accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger support to business units, financial IT systems, procurement, property management, capital planning, statutory reporting and management reporting.

About The Role

Newly created Portfolio Planning Manager role reporting to our Head of Financial Planning and Performance. This is a permanent full-time role that can be based at either our Auckland (airport) or Christchurch (Burnside) office.

This role will lead a team comprised of a Portfolio Enablement Partner and Portfolio Analyst and is responsible for guiding project ideas from ideation through detailed planning and design, ensuring all projects are aligned with strategic objectives and properly sequenced within the 10-Year capital plan.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Direct, empower, motivate, and develop individuals to achieve personal, business unit, group, and organisational goals.
  • Engage stakeholders across the organisation to capture and refine project ideas, assessing feasibility of project concepts and ensuring alignment with strategic and asset management plans.
  • Facilitate concept validation processes, ensuring ideas are viable and strategically aligned.
  • Refine project requirements, managing prioritisation and sequencing of projects within the capital plan.
  • Monitor projects during the Initiate and execute phases to identify changes impacting milestones, finances, or resources.
  • Proactively adjust the capital plan, bringing forward or rescheduling projects as needed whilst ensuring projects remain aligned with strategic goals throughout their lifecycle.
  • Develops and maintains the organisation’s portfolio benefits management framework.

About You

Due to the nature of the role and our operations, you'll be comfortable working in a complex, regulated environment and hold exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence others.

Additionally, You Will Have

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and significant (e.g. 7+ years) experience in portfolio management or asset management roles.
  • At least five years people management experience, leading and developing teams.
  • Experience working in a complex financial environment, preferably in an SOE or commercial environment.
  • A proven ability to work with technical specialists to produce effective solutions.
  • A passion for excellence, delivery and quality.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic business environment, collaborate with people internally and externally, show resilience and agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful business outcomes.
