The Opportunity

B&H Worldwide is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our Auckland operations team.

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring Best-in-Class operational services by leading a team to achieve operational, customer service and compliance outcomes. This includes setting workloads, delegating tasks, providing guidance, monitoring performance, supporting staff development, resolving operational issues and acting as a key liaison between the team and management.

This role is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient and compliant movement of aircraft parts and other aviation-related materials. The successful candidate will bring strong communication, problem-solving, leadership and time management skills, together with sound operational knowledge across import, export, warehousing, transport and aviation logistics processes.

Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Key Role Accountabilities

Leadership & Motivation

Guide, motivate and inspire the team to achieve specific project goals, operational targets and company objectives.

This includes:

  • Driving employee engagement and team cohesion.
  • Leading, training and supervising logistics staff and/or warehouse personnel.
  • Preparing shift schedules and managing manpower allocation during peak operational periods.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and providing ongoing coaching and mentorship.

Performance Monitoring

Track the performance of team members, provide constructive feedback and conduct performance reviews.

This includes:

  • Ensuring direct reports clearly understand and take ownership of their area of responsibility.
  • Supporting the team to respond proactively to requests and deliver an efficient and responsive service.
  • Setting clear objectives and guiding the team to achieve defined targets and performance standards.

Training and Development

Help team members develop new skills, maintain compliance and improve performance through training, coaching and guidance.

This includes:

  • Working with the Station / Branch Manager to ensure the team is designed optimally, with appropriate organisational depth, span of control, succession and talent planning.
  • Ensuring the team is fully aware of and compliant with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring team members receive ongoing training, including refresher training.
  • Identifying and implementing future developmental training programmes where appropriate.
  • Ensuring all team members complete mandated training as required.
  • Ensuring all team members are trained in, and follow, requirements under ISO 9001 AS9120B.

Communication

Serve as the primary point of contact between the team and senior management and foster open communication within the team.

This includes:

  • Managing HR challenges and supporting resolution management, with support from the Station / Branch Manager and HR team.
  • Ensuring team members receive the communication and instructions needed to act in accordance with policies and procedures.

Problem-Solving

Address and resolve conflicts, handle complaints and identify and mitigate potential operational challenges.

Task Management

Delegate work effectively, plan workloads and ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time.

This includes:

  • Supervising daily aviation logistics operations, including import/export, warehousing, airside movements and transport scheduling.
  • Working closely with airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling teams and airport authorities.
  • Resolving operational issues, including cargo discrepancies, delays and missed milestones.
  • Arranging shipments in accordance with customer instructions and customer SOPs.
  • Liaising with overseas offices and other relevant B&H departments to meet customer deadlines and KPIs.
  • Ensuring all shipments, including AOG, critical aircraft parts and oversized cargo, are delivered on time and in full compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring operational KPIs, job margins and service delivery standards.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of airline, airport and freight forwarding processes and procedures.
  • Responding to customer requests within defined timelines.

Regulatory & Safety Compliance

Ensure operations are conducted safely and in accordance with applicable aviation, security, safety and operational requirements.

This includes:

  • Ensuring full compliance with relevant aviation regulations, including IATA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Enforcing safety protocols, PPE usage and airside operational procedures.
  • Conducting regular audits, inspections and risk assessments.
  • Reporting and investigating safety incidents and implementing corrective actions.

Your Experience

This role requires excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task under pressure. You will possess sound operational knowledge, including import and export processes, and ideally bring experience from a logistics, air freight or aviation environment.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as an Operator and, ideally, experience as an Operations Supervisor or team leader.
  • A proven track record leading time-critical logistics teams in a logistics or aviation environment.
  • A hands-on approach to operational leadership.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to develop partnerships across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with customers, partners and employees.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Office and bespoke company systems, such as WMS or inventory systems.
  • Basic commercial awareness and an understanding of how operational decisions impact the business.
  • The ability to consider several possible options and determine the most appropriate method.
  • A proven record of being responsive and innovative.
  • The ability to identify, coordinate and manage change initiatives.
  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure and meet defined deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to use initiative.

Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience within logistics, air freight or aviation operations.
  • Customs brokerage experience, advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with WMS or similar systems.
  • IATA Dangerous Goods training or experience.
  • RACA or equivalent aviation security experience, where applicable.
  • A full five-year checkable work/background history.
  • A clean criminal record.
