As a leading banking institution in New Zealand, Kiwibank is focused on challenging the status quo and building digital and technology capabilities that genuinely make Kiwi better off. Our Enterprise Systems platforms play a critical role in enabling our people, protecting our customers, and supporting the bank to operate safely and effectively.
We’re looking for a Principal Architect to provide architectural leadership across our Enterprise Systems portfolio. In this role, you’ll shape direction and roadmaps, partner closely with senior leaders, and ensure solutions are secure by design, aligned to strategy, and grounded in pragmatic delivery.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Working closely with leaders and teams across functions such as HR, Risk, Operations, Finance, and IT Service Management to understand needs and translate them into clear, actionable guidance
- Developing and maintaining enterprise systems roadmaps aligned to business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice
- Providing leadership and mentoring to Solution Architects, supporting high-quality solution design and effective delivery outcomes
- Defining pragmatic architecture patterns, standards, and guardrails that enable teams to move faster while managing risk appropriately
- Contributing to technology governance, and influencing stakeholders by clearly communicating the “why” behind architectural decisions
Ko tātou tēnei. Kia hāpai i ō pūkenga | This is us. Where your expertise matters.
Key skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in enterprise systems and solution architecture across core business domains such as HR, Finance, Risk, Legal, Operations and Technology, with a strong understanding of how platforms enable end to end business workflows.
- Strong experience with enterprise platforms that underpin core organisational workflows, including Microsoft (e.g. Office 365 and related services) and the ServiceNow platform, with an emphasis on platform capability, extensibility, integration and value realisation
- Demonstrated experience designing and evolving enterprise platforms to support emerging technologies, including the practical application of AI and automation across business and technology functions to improve decision making, efficiency and customer outcomes.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud based solutions within regulated environments, particularly in the financial services sector, aligning to security and regulatory frameworks such as NIST and the Privacy Act.
- A pragmatic approach, “just enough” architecture, producing clear, fit for purpose artefacts that enable teams to move faster with confidence while maintaining appropriate governance and risk management.
You don’t need to tick every box to be considered. We’re looking for the right blend of architectural judgement, leadership, and a strong security mindset.
