Mō te Tūranga | About the role

The  Core Banking Tribe is the heart of the bank providing all the cool online / real-time transactional services that power ASB.

Withing the Core Tribe we have the Treasury and Trading squads that support the Calypso financial platform. This system is used to manage trading, risk, collateral, treasury and post-trade operations across multiple asset classes. It streamlines front-to-back-office workflows, providing real-time analytics, processing, and regulatory compliance for complex financial products.

As a Software Specialist (Test), you will apply your financial domain experience and senior-level Testing expertise to help the team in building, supporting and maintaining the Calypso platform and related applications as well as our integrations with the rest of the bank (there are quite a few!). You will be planning and designing test efforts but also be hands-on writing and executing test cases.

You will lead our test automation efforts with the help of Calypso Testing Tool (CATT) as well as build out our integration testing for our Restful APIs.

You will be committed to ongoing learning, personal and professional growth, making use of our ample training and certification opportunities.

Finally, you will be contributing to the Testing Chapter at ASB by improving the overall testing processes and engaging with the wider Engineering Practice on Test and engineering best practices.

Day-to-day You Will Be Involved In The Following Activities

  • Work with business and technical teams to analyse requirements, create test strategies, detailed test plans, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated and manual test cases for Calypso modules (e.g., trading, risk, collateral, settlements, and reporting) and other financial systems
  • Functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
  • Validate Calypso interfaces and integrations with upstream/downstream systems (e.g., market data feeds, payment systems, SWIFT, and external APIs).
  • Data validation and reconciliation for trade lifecycle events and financial calculations.
  • Manage defects and backlogs; collaborate with development and support teams for resolution.
  • Review and enhance test automation for CI/CD.
  • Lead impact analysis and risk assessments activities.
  • Support UAT and provide training or guidance to business users as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements through thorough test documentation and evidence gathering.
