SEO Performance Manager – Global Wave Group
Location: Albany, Auckland (Office based)
Reports to: Global Marketing Manager
Role Purpose
The Off-page SEO & Online Reputation Manager is responsible for increasing the company’s visibility, authority, and reputation across the web outside of our own website. The focus is to build high-quality backlinks, expand our brand presence on third-party platforms, monitor search engine results pages (SERPs), and actively manage any negative or misleading content about the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an off-page SEO strategy aligned with overall marketing and business goals.
- Build and maintain a systematic backlink acquisition program (e.g., outreach, partnerships, digital PR, guest posts).
- Identify and secure high-quality backlink opportunities from authoritative, relevant websites.
- Monitor backlink profile health (e.g., toxic links, broken links) and coordinate disavow or cleanup actions when needed.
- Track branded search results and ensure the first page of SERPs highlights positive, accurate information about the company.
- Identify negative, outdated, or misleading articles and work on strategies to respond, suppress, correct, or counterbalance them.
- Collaborate with Content and PR teams to publish positive brand stories, case studies, and thought-leadership pieces on external platforms.
- Manage and optimize company profiles on key third-party platforms (e.g., review sites, directories, social profiles, industry listings).
- Monitor and respond to online reviews and public feedback in cooperation with Customer Service and relevant teams.
- Use SEO and reputation monitoring tools (e.g., Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Mention) to track performance and insights.
- Prepare regular reports on off-page SEO performance, online reputation status, and key performance indicators progress.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in SEO, with at least 1 year focused on off-page SEO or link building.
- Proven experience managing online reputation, brand mentions, or digital PR campaigns is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of search engine algorithms, link quality factors, and best practices for white-hat link building.
- Familiarity with major SEO tools (e.g., Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, Google Search Console, Google Analytics).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-based recommendations.
- Excellent written communication skills (for outreach emails, responses, and content briefs).
- Strategic thinking with a hands-on, execution-focused mindset.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and consistent in following processes and documenting work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to dealing with negative content and crises.
