At ASB, our purpose is to accelerate progress of all New Zealanders. As we continue to strengthen how we manage privacy risk across the bank, we’re looking for a Senior Manager – Privacy to play a key role in shaping and uplifting our approach.

This is a highly visible role where you’ll partner with the business, influence leaders, and drive meaningful improvements in how we handle personal information to support compliance and build customer trust.

Te tūranga | The role

Reporting to the Head of Privacy, you’ll operate across strategic, advisory and operational activity, helping the organisation focus on what matters most from a privacy risk perspective.

You’ll

  • Drive adoption of best practice privacy risk management frameworks and approaches in accordance with Group policies and guidance
  • Lead targeted initiatives to optimise privacy risk lifecycle management when third parties are engaged, or business change occurs
  • Partner closely with the business to embed effective privacy risk management practices
  • Use data and insights to assess privacy compliance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives that uplift privacy capability, including learning and communication strategies
  • Provide constructive challenge and influence stakeholders to strengthen privacy risk controls
  • Prepare materials for governance forums and regulatory engagement.

Ō pūkenga | What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who brings both depth of expertise and strong stakeholder engagement:

  • Proven experience in privacy risk and compliance, or a closely related discipline within a large organisation
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, data security and emerging technology risks (including AI)
  • Experience assessing complex initiatives and providing actionable privacy advice to the business
  • Proven ability to measure privacy impact and operations; presenting insights to drive buy-in and change.
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders, able to link privacy compliance to customer and business outcomes
  • Experience improving privacy frameworks, processes or operating models
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with high attention to detail.
