CARTERS Palmerston North is seeking an experienced HIAB driver to deliver building materials to our valued trade customers. In this active and physical role, you will be responsible for safely loading orders and operating a Hiab to off-load product on site while navigating often challenging accessways.

Your versatility will be key as you may also need to provide support in the timber yard, operating a forklift to load and providing exceptional customer service to our trade customers. In this role you will need to:

  • Efficiently load and deliver orders navigating various residential and commercial construction sites with differing ground conditions
  • Safely offloading product deliveries, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to all, whether on-site or off-site, ensuring their needs are met to the highest standards.
  • Supporting the yard team when required to load and unload delivery vans and trucks.
  • Recommend suitable products, tailored to customer preferences.
  • Maintain cleanliness and uphold safety standards through general branch housekeeping.

About you

You will be the perfect fit for this role if you are committed to delivering exceptional customer service and have the following skills, qualities, and certifications.

  • A valid FULL CLASS 4/5 License essential, Hiab licence and experience
  • Forklift F Endorsed Licence with OSH Certificate essential
  • A team-focused attitude with a positive, can-do approach and building the rapport with our customers
  • Physically fit for the occasional heavy lifting and manual handling
  • Strong safety awareness and understanding of relevant regulations
  • Capable in navigating computer systems with a firm grasp of technology
  • Building industry knowledge an advantage
