About The Role
The Settlements Supervisor role sits within Capital Market Operations and is responsible for the delivery of settlement processes and management of funds through the clearing house across NZX’s cash and derivatives markets.
You will operate as a crucial member of the team, supporting day-to-day settlement and depository activity while also contributing to projects, reporting, and continuous improvement.
The role requires strong technical expertise in clearing and settlement, the ability to manage incidents, and the confidence to take ownership across operational delivery, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement.
You will also act as a subject matter expert across projects, provide analysis and reporting for senior management and the Board, and maintain strong relationships with market participants.
In Particular, This Role Will
- Ensure that all processes are fit for purpose; analysing any process issues and looking for trends in any incidents, major or minor.
- Be a subject matter expert on NZX projects, requiring operational input or being completed by the Operations teams.
- Prepare reports for senior managers and the Board.
- Managing daily communications with participants, including delivering to participants needs and providing business to business customer service.
- Be the first point of call for any Settlement Operations incidents that arise.
- Advocate for the Operations teams across the business.
Essential
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 2 years’ experience working within a designated financial market infrastructure and regulated exchange environment (e.g., securities, derivatives or commodities exchange).
- Operational and relationship management experience within a financial market infrastructure, with hands on responsibility for clearing, settlement and participant engagement.
- Degree qualification in finance, commerce or economics.
- Proven ability to lead operational teams, ensuring alignment, accountability and high-quality delivery under pressure.
- Working knowledge of the Clearing and Settlement Rules, Depository Operating Rules, and relevant aspects of the Financial Market Infrastructure Standards.
- Experience with the BaNCS clearing and settlement system preferred.

Additional information
This is a permanent full-time position (40 hours per week), worked across Monday to Friday. This role is based in Wellington (In-office), with a negotiable start date.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 per annum.
