Aotea Fire (NZ) Limited is a highly successful, well-established Fire Protection company and we are seeking Design Engineers to join our Team.

This role involves a wide variety of work from tendering to certification for Fire Protection Systems including Sprinklers, Hydrants & Fire Alarms.

· NZCE or NZ Diploma in Engineering.

· Proficient in AutoCAD & Revit

· Competent knowledge of Fire Protection System Design

· NZ Driver's License.

· Have a dedication to quality workmanship.

· Strong communication skills.

· Be able to work autonomously and within a team.

· Ability to self-manage, self-motivated, and be self-sufficient.

· Must be able to develop strong client relationships.

· New Zealand Resident or currently hold a New Zealand work visa.

a) General

· To promote the commercial, ethical and other interests of the Company.

· To dutifully apply the principles, practices and procedures as described within quality manual.

· To be diligent, responsible and innovative in all endeavors undertaken.

· To maximize commercial opportunity and minimize risk.

· To accept all directives and instruction and to work in any relevant location as required by the Managing Director or other appointed supervisor.

b) Administration

· To attend to communication devices, to record messages and attend to client requests as becomes evident.

· To ensure employee time is accurately recorded in time based software / time sheets.

· Prepare, collate, copy and disseminate documentation including maintenance manuals, tender documentation and design documents.

· Prepare, amend and complete design parameter forms, block plans, hydraulic reference sheets and other forms and instruments.

· Prepare and submit completion notices, as built documentation and hydraulic calculations.

c) Draughting

· To prepare technically correct drawings of new / altered Fire Protection Systems.

· Work in AutoCAD 2D or Revit Environment

· Autodesk Docs / Navisworks / file sharing software

· Hydraulic calculation software

· Microsoft 365 suite

d) Engineering and design

· To design alterations to existing / new fire protection systems in accordance with NZS4541, NZS 4512, NZS 4510, NFPA & FMDS design codes.

· Such design is to include but not be limited to equipment location and spacing, hydraulic calculations, pipe / cable runs, pipe, cable sizes and types, coordination with building elements/ other building services

e) Site Work

· To gather from site and other locations such information and other things as is necessary to competently discharge draughting, engineering and other duties

· Attend meetings and liaise with other work-related organizations as becomes necessary and to act within the authority invested for that occasion.

· To participate in commissioning and system performance evidencing.
