Mō te tūnga | About the role
This is a unique opportunity to lead technical direction across a critical national system that supports offender management for Ara Poutama Aotearoa. As the Technical Lead, you will work at the centre of a complex, multi-vendor ecosystem, influencing how our core application is designed, developed, integrated and improved.
You will bring and further develop your expertise in system integration, agile development, and technical delivery, working with our core legacy application and collaborating with architects, vendors, and project teams.
This role offers a balance of strategic influence and hands-on technical problem solving, from shaping solutions and guiding projects through to resolving complex system issues and supporting live environments.
If you are motivated by driving meaningful change, working across diverse stakeholders, and leading the delivery of reliable, high impact systems, this role provides both challenge and purpose.
We are open to inter-agency secondments.

To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Experience with developing .Net applications, with legacy system support a bonus
- Experience of working in a multi-vendor environment
- Background in infrastructure and networking as well as business applications and integration, driving performance and stability of the application
- Experience with managing end user expectations and translating these into user requirements and stories
- Understanding of data models, data products and data integrations.
Ngā painga | The benefits
The midpoint of the salary range is $155,285 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $131,993 - $186,342 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
In this role you will be able to work from home to two days a week, and a there is a range of staff benefits such as retail store discounts and health services.
