Auckland CBD | 24/7 Operations Environment
Power the payments that keep New Zealand moving
At Paymark we sit at the heart of New Zealand’s economy. Every day, millions of Kiwis rely on our network to pay for the things they need—quickly, securely, and without even thinking about it.
To date, we’ve processed over 26 billion transactions worth more than $1 trillion, supporting more than 96,000 merchants nationwide. Behind that scale is a team of smart, dedicated people making sure everything runs seamlessly—24/7.
Now, we’re looking for a Systems Operator to join our team and help keep this critical infrastructure running like clockwork.
About the role
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring the continuous availability and reliability of our EFTPOS systems and financial services.
Working in a shift-based environment, you’ll monitor, maintain, and support our systems in real time—helping to prevent issues, respond quickly when things arise, and ensure transactions flow smoothly across the country.
You don’t need to know everything on day one—we’ll support you with training and development—but you do need curiosity, accountability, and a strong sense of ownership.
What you’ll be doing
- Monitoring and supporting mission-critical payment systems in a 24/7 environment
- Ensuring system availability, performance, and reliability at all times
- Managing daily financial settlement processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Running scheduled processes and completing system maintenance activities
- Investigating and resolving issues using analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Managing multiple service requests and system alerts effectively
What you’ll bring
- A qualification in Computer Science (or similar), or 1+ year of relevant systems/IT experience
- Experience in system monitoring, support, or operations
- Exposure to mainframe or midrange systems (HP NonStop / Connex experience is a bonus)
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work rotating shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) in a 24/7 environment
Most importantly, you’re someone who is:
- Reliable, focused, and calm under pressure
- A strong team player with great communication skills
- Keen to learn and grow in a complex, high-impact environment
