About the Squad | Mō te Tīma
The Observability Squad looks after the day‑to‑day running of ASB’s core monitoring platform. We focus on keeping systems stable, secure and available through strong operational fundamentals. That includes patching, certificate management, platform monitoring and responding to operational requests that keep the bank running. The team is trusted with critical work and invests heavily in developing engineers who want to build solid DevOps career. It’s a practical, hands‑on environment where you’ll learn how large, complex platforms really operate, with clear pathways to grow once you’ve mastered the basics.
About the Role | Mō te Tūranga
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting high‑availability infrastructure services across ASB’s technology platforms. The focus is on operational excellence, learning how enterprise environments run, and building strong engineering habits that underpin secure and reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Performing day‑to‑day operational tasks to keep platforms stable and secure
- Monitoring platform health and responding to incoming service requests
- Supporting Microsoft and Linux patching and security updates
- Managing and renewing certificates and other security artefacts
- Carrying out regular checks to ensure systems are performing within capacity thresholds
- Maintaining accurate technical documentation and operational runbooks
- Working to towards automation and best practices
- Following change, incident, and problem management processes
- Working closely with peers and senior engineers to learn, troubleshoot and improve services
About You | Mōu
You’re an infrastructure engineer or someone ready to step further into enterprise systems. You’re comfortable with core technical concepts, keen to learn, and take pride in doing the basics well because you understand how critical they are.
Key Skills And Experience Include
- At least 7 years’ experience supporting enterprise environments
- Exposure to Windows and/or Linux server environments
- A basic understanding of networking fundamentals such as load balancers, firewalls and certificates
- Awareness of ITIL or structured service management processes
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- A genuine desire to learn, improve, and build depth in infrastructure engineering
