Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
Reporting to the OPEX Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organising, and supervising operational activities across projects. You'll lead crews and subcontractors, ensuring all work meets quality, safety, productivity, and financial targets.
Operations & Delivery
- Organise and oversee day-to-day site operations and project activities
- Develop work plans, assign resources, and coordinate crews and subcontractors
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification
- Maintain accurate daily records, reports, and documentation
Plant & Equipment Management
- Ensure all plant and equipment are safely operated, maintained, and compliant
- Minimise downtime and optimise utilisation
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs
Health, Safety, Quality & Environment
- Champion a strong Zero Harm culture
- Ensure compliance with all H&S, environmental, and quality standards
- Conduct audits, inspections, and safety checks
- Promote best practice behaviours across teams
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop team members on-site
- Support skill development, training, and career progression
- Foster a positive, high-performing team culture
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and the public
- Address issues promptly and ensure customer satisfaction
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
You'll bring a combination of technical knowledge, strong planning skills, and a proactive mindset. You're comfortable working independently in the field and confident collaborating with teams to deliver results.
- Several years' experience in the contracting or infrastructure industry
- Proven experience supervising teams and managing site operations
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Solid understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements
- Confident using IT systems for reporting and documentation
- NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Site Supervision) or willingness to obtain
