Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're looking for mechanical engineering specialists to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and beyond.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your graduate-level expertise in a new and impactful domain, working alongside world-leading AI research teams — all on a fully flexible, remote schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, and material science that rigorously challenge AI reasoning
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
- Audit AI-Generated Content — Review and evaluate AI outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical flaws such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or unit errors, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex physical concepts and mathematical reasoning clearly in written form
- Highly detail-oriented when reviewing derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- No prior AI experience required — if you know engineering, we'll handle the rest
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or technical writing
- Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB
- Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows
