Are you a person with an intellectual disability or autism who would like to gain experience working in an office environment?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated intern to join our National Office team for a six-week internship. This is a great opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills, and gain valuable workplace experience in a supportive environment.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

As an IHC National Office Intern, you will spend time working alongside different teams within our National Office, helping with a variety of office-based tasks. Depending on availability, you may work with teams such as Reception, Advocacy, Finance, and/or Choices NZ.

Throughout the internship, you will be supported to develop workplace skills, gain practical experience, and learn more about how a large organisation operates.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you'll bring

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

  • A diagnosis of an intellectual disability or autism
  • The ability to follow verbal instructions
  • The ability to read Easy Read documents
  • Basic computer skills, including typing

You Must Also

  • Be aged 16 years or older
  • Have a support person accompany you for every shift
  • Be willing to consent to the sharing of your Risk Assessment Management Plan with IHC and Choices NZ where relevant to the role
