Instrumentation Systems Engineer – Petone, Wellington

Join WSP’s Instrumentation team at the Research Centre and help deliver innovative monitoring solutions that support infrastructure and environmental projects across New Zealand.

This opportunity is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with around 2 years’ experience in information technology, information science, electronics, computer systems engineering, instrumentation engineering, or a related discipline.

You’ll have the opportunity to grow your capability across instrumentation, data systems, and field technologies while working alongside experienced specialists on meaningful, future-focused projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Support instrumentation and monitoring systems
  • Work with sensors, telemetry, and data platforms
  • Assist with reporting, dashboards, and visualisation
  • Contribute to installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting

About You

  • Qualification in IT, information science, electronics, computer systems engineering, instrumentation engineering, or similar
  • Preferably 2+ years’ experience in a related field
  • Experience with data handling, reporting, and visualisation
  • Strong knowledge of SQL/databases and tools such as Power BI
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in instrumentation, sensors, or digital systems
