Capability & Engagement Manager

At ASB, we’re all about doing what we can to help our customers get “One Step Ahead”. We’re looking for a Capability & Engagement Manager to join our Operations team and play a key role in lifting capability across lending and collections environments.

Te tūranga | The role

This is a newly created role as part of our broader capability uplift programme. You’ll sit at the intersection of learning, workforce management and operational delivery, ensuring our teams have the right capability to respond to changing demand.

Working closely with business leaders and Learning & Development, you’ll focus on embedding sustainable capability frameworks, supporting regulatory learning rollout, and driving increased flexibility and proficiency assist

This is a role where you’ll influence, connect and deliver — not just design learning, but ensure it lands and creates real business impact.

Ngā mea ka mahia e koe | What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of learning initiatives, from needs analysis through to implementation and evaluation
• Design and support capability frameworks that enable teams to flex across workloads and respond to peaks and troughs
• Partner closely with Workforce Management to support resource planning
• Engage senior stakeholders to identify capability gaps and deliver targeted learning solutions
• Work with L&D teams to shape learning roadmaps (rather than build content directly)
• Ensure learning programmes are measurable, relevant and aligned to business outcomes
• Maintain and continuously improve learning collateral and frameworks
• Provide reporting and insights on learning effectiveness and capability uplift
• Manage risk and ensure learning solutions align with regulatory and compliance requirements

• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability — you can bring people with you
• Experience across learning, capability, change or consulting environments
• Proven ability to deliver end-to-end learning or capability programmes
• Strong understanding of instructional design and learning delivery approaches
• Able to operate at both strategic and delivery level
• Comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and priorities

Ideally You Will Also Bring

• Experience within banking, financial services or a complex operational environment
• Exposure to workforce management, operations or large-scale transformation programmes
• Experience working with or alongside Learning Management Systems and L&D teams
