AA New Zealand

Working with the AA | Me mahi tahi tatou ki AA

For over 120 years the AA have been helping Kiwis on their adventures! Today, we're one of New Zealand's most respected and trusted brands. From our humble beginnings as a motoring enthusiast's club, the New Zealand AA (Automobile Association) has grown into a large, dynamic organisation offering many services and products to more than a million Members.

And now, we’re building the organisation of the future – more connected, modern, and purpose-driven. We are a business in transformation, with opportunities to work cross-functionally, grow new skills, and make a meaningful impact. We’re investing in our people, platforms, and ways of working to stay ahead of what our Members and customers need.

What You'll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga

As a Senior Insights Analyst, you’ll play a key role in turning data into meaningful, actionable insights that inform business decisions across the AA. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across multiple functions, helping them understand their data, uncover opportunities and improve performance through clear, evidence-based recommendations.

This is a hands on role where you’ll lead end to end delivery of insights initiatives, combining strong technical capability with storytelling and stakeholder engagement. You’ll be deep in the detail, but just as comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives that drive business outcomes.

You’ll join at an exciting time as the AA continues to grow its data and insights capability. With new tools and platforms being introduced, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape how insights are delivered, influence strategy and bring fresh thinking based on your experience in more mature analytics environments.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Owning the end to end delivery of insights and research initiatives, from scoping with stakeholders through to delivery and measurable business impact
  • Analysing complex datasets and translating findings into clear, compelling insights and recommendations
  • Presenting insights through effective data storytelling, focusing on outcomes rather than just outputs
  • Partnering with stakeholders to understand business problems, challenge assumptions and shape the right analytical approach
  • Championing insights, research and analytics best practice, ensuring consistency and high quality delivery
  • Leading or contributing to cross functional initiatives, workshops and forums as a senior member of the team
  • Supporting and mentoring other analysts, helping lift team capability and confidence

About You | Mōu

You’re an experienced Senior Insights Analyst who is confident operating at a senior level and bringing both technical expertise and commercial thinking. You’ve spent time working in established analytics environments and understand how to translate data into real business impact.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Must Have

  • Proven experience operating as a Senior Insights or Analytics professional, ideally with five or more years’ experience at or near senior level
  • Strong capability in data storytelling and data visualisation, with a focus on driving business outcomes rather than just building reports
  • Hands on experience with tools such as Tableau (ideally Tableau Cloud), Snowflake, SQL and Python
  • Proven experience working closely with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to influence and challenge effectively
  • Experience working in complex or mature analytics environments where you’ve seen and contributed to the evolution of data capabilities

You also bring a genuine passion for the insights space, with a strong interest in business intelligence, analytics and research rather than purely data science or AI pathways. You’re confident working autonomously, taking ownership of your work and partnering with stakeholders to drive better outcomes.

You communicate clearly and confidently, with the ability to simplify complex information and bring non technical stakeholders on the journey. You’re proactive, curious and solutions focused, and enjoy working in an environment where you can both deliver high quality insights and help shape how the function evolves over time.
