About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
We’re looking for an energetic and passionate Senior Advisor Health, Safety, and Wellbeing to join our small but mighty Health, Safety and Wellbeing team at New Zealand Red Cross!
In this exciting and varied role, no one day will be the same! You will collaborate with our business units to provide expert HSW advice, guidance and support, while also leading the development and implementation of HSW systems, policies, initiatives, and programmes that align with NZRC’s overall HSW strategy. You’ll play a key role in driving impactful health, safety, and wellbeing projects that truly make a difference. Remuneration for this role reflects relevant skills and experience and is positioned mid $100k-$112k (pro-rata to 33.75 hours per week). NZRC remunerates on a total remuneration approach encompassing base salary and employer contribution to KiwiSaver. In addition, we offer 5 weeks annual leave and 12 days wellbeing (sick) leave.
What you bring - Nōu te rourou
To be considered for this role, you will be a credible and experienced HSW practitioner, either operating successfully at Senior Advisor level or ready to take the next step from an Advisor role into a broader role with increased responsibility.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Provide specialist technical HSW advice, guidance and support to managers, employees, members and volunteers.
- Take the lead role in the development, review, and implementation of HSW policies, standards, systems, tools, and information.
- Deliver specialised HSW guidance and take the lead on projects, strategies, initiatives, and programs aimed at enhancing health, safety, and wellbeing throughout the organisation.
- Conduct internal HSW audits and investigations as required, ensuring compliance and addressing any issues.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive HSW outcomes and manage industry supplier relationships.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements, legislation, and best practices to ensure the organisation’s HSW practices remain compliant and effective.
Who are we looking for? – Mā wai te mahi nei?
To be successful you will have:
- Good level knowledge of health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and other relevant regulations.
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an equivalent HSW Senior Advisor role
- Membership with a relevant professional body such as New Zealand Institute of Safety Management, is required.
- A Graduate Diploma or similar in HSW is desirable.
- ICAM trained and experience of ICAM investigations.
- Experience in contributing to the planning, design and implementation of HSW, strategies and initiatives.
- Experience in developing and implementing HSW policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Experience in HSW risk management and Critical risks.
- Project management experience is desirable.
