About The Role
We are on the hunt for two High Voltage Control Room Operators to oversee the monitoring, operation, and maintenance of various electrical equipment, including boilers, transformers, switching systems and High Voltage distribution. The role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and contractual standards.
This is a full-time, permanent position, based on site at Kawerau, Rotorua.
- This role requires the ability to work to a rostered 12-hour shift once fully trained, encompassing 2 days/2 nights, on a 4 on/4 off basis***
About You
- 3 years experience monitoring and controlling the real-time operation of the electricity network to ensure a safe, reliable, secure and continuous supply to our customers
- Carrying out routine operating tests
- EWRB Licence
- Initiate fault restoration and emergency response
- Collaborate effectively with a national team of Electrical Services professionals, sharing valuable insights with supervisors, team leaders, and colleagues as needed.
- Monitoring operation of power generation plant and interpreting instrument readings
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role you’ll need great communication and sharp analytical skills, coupled with the ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions in a timely manner during times of pressure.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have Some Of The Following
- Technical experience in electricity distribution networks or in an industrial/commercial setting
- 3 years Control room experience, and/or existing experience with the Vector network
- An inherent belief in the importance of high standards of health and safety
- Writing reports and maintaining records on equipment performance, instrument readings and switching operations
