What You’ll Do

We have a rare opportunity for a rockstar in Energy or Data to join our growing Analytics team in Portfolio Management. You'll be joining a fascinating, complex part of our business that is directly responsible for managing both our current and future electricity portfolio, spanning from generation to demand and everything in between.

Reporting to our Portfolio Analytics Manager, your key responsibilities include:

• Analyse market trends, focusing on Genesis' portfolio and the impact of hydrology, outages, fuels, regulations, policies, and financial contracts to assess financial risks and opportunities
• Conduct Energy Market Modelling and long term forecasting, evaluating different scenarios and in support of strategic Portfolio initiatives
• Maintain and develop reporting to enable accurate and timely reporting on current and forecast hedge book positions, forecasting results in hydro, electricity and gas demands, generation and dispatch
• Work with, explore, and manipulate large datasets to understand energy market behaviour
• Work closely with the trading, fuels and asset teams to understand the complete portfolio structure, to be able to provide analytical and insight expertise to senior leaders.

What You’ll Need

We are looking for someone with an interest in the energy industry and a strong background in modelling, analysis and reporting. An inquisitive nature, high communication skills and ability to lead commercial conversations will ensure that you add value.

• Proven modelling and analytical experience
• Strong commercial acumen with a business-oriented mindset
• Extensive experience working with large datasets and a high degree of comfort analysing and interpreting data
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex problems and apply critical thinking to develop a range of practical options and solutions
• Experience in the energy sector is desirable
• A degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Engineering, Science, Mathematics, IT) combined with a commercial discipline (Finance, Economics, Accounting) is preferred but not essential
• Experience with Power BI is preferred, though not mandatory .
