Marine Welder / Fabricator
Wellington | Full Time | $93,350 per annum + Overtime
Bluebridge is looking for an experienced Marine Welder / Fabricator to join our workshop team.
This role is for someone who can weld, fabricate, fit pipework, and solve problems. Our vessels operate 24/7, and we need people who can deliver quality work in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly.
You'll work both in the workshop and onboard our ferries carrying out repairs, maintenance, fabrication, and installation work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Structural steel repairs and fabrication
- Pipe fabrication, fitting, and installation
- Welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Marine maintenance and repair work
- Vessel modifications and upgrade projects
- Reading and working from drawings and sketches
- Planned maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Working independently and as part of a team
Essential Requirements
- ASME IX 6G welding qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in ship repair, ship maintenance, or shipyard environments
- Proven pipe welding and pipe fitting experience
- Full New Zealand driver's licence

Working Hours
This position is based on a 40-hour work week with overtime opportunities.
Applicants must be willing to:
- Work overtime when required
- Work weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays
- Occasionally work night shifts during vessel maintenance periods, refits, and operational requirements
Flexibility is essential, as much of our maintenance work is carried out around vessel schedules.
