We're looking for a Senior Asset Planning Engineer, Rail Assets to join our dedicated and friendly Assets and Infrastructure Team in Metlink. This is a permanent role based in our Cuba Street office .

About the role

The Senior Asset Planning Engineer, Rail Assets will work across the Group and with key stakeholders who deliver public transport for the Wellington Region. You will be responsible for ensuring our long-term plans relating to strategic asset control are developed and are deliverable.

You will provide assurance that strategic rail assets can be delivered and managed with a focus on required levels of service and affordability in accordance with our strategic objectives.

This role will lead the development and delivery of asset management plans for Metlink's rail assets, including the 30-year expenditure forecast, the development of standards and a sustainable works plan. This is to ensure the smooth running of the Metlink's transport network and to provide an attractive and safe customer experience.

Essential to the role is development of Portfolio Management Plans, and subsequent input into Metlink's Asset Management Plan. As a senior member of the team, you will play an integral role in the mentoring and coaching of others in the Metlink group.

Skills and experience required

The ideal candidate will have the following essential skills and experience:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably in engineering or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Experience in Asset management of public transport fleet and infrastructure assets.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus where there are multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience providing quality, comprehensive reports at a senior level, including business case development, which cover benefits realisation, risk management and quality assurance aspects.
  • Experience leading complex projects to successful completion, ensuring organisational change is effectively embedded into business as usual.
  • Capability in Te ao Māori in line with Greater Wellington's Māori Capability Framework.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $108,779 to $169,169, with a midpoint of $135,974.

Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
