We’re seeking an exceptional Executive General Manager, Retail to join our New Zealand Leadership Team accountable for profitable growth, shaping strategy, and delivering outstanding customer outcomes at scale. This is a permanent full-time role based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

Ngā Mahi Hei Whakatutuki Māu | What You'll Do

As Executive General Manager, Retail, you will define and execute the retail strategy for IAG New Zealand, aligning closely to enterprise priorities while anticipating and responding to market trends. With full accountability for the direct business P&L, you will drive sustainable, profitable growth across market leading brands, ensuring strong commercial outcomes while challenging legacy thinking and embedding forward-looking, data-driven approaches.

You will lead end-to-end customer growth and experience, owning the customer journey across direct, partner, and distribution channels. This includes shaping omni-channel strategies, enhancing customer acquisition and onboarding, deepening customer relationships to drive retention, loyalty, and long-term value. You will also shape and execute customer loyalty and engagement strategies that move beyond transactional interactions to enduring relationships. Your leadership will include direct pricing, product and portfolio strategy and execution, ensuring simplicity, competitiveness, and innovation in line with evolving customer expectations.

A key focus of the role is leveraging Data, AI and personalisation to unlock growth and transform customer experiences and increase internal effectiveness. You will provide enterprise leadership across these capabilities, enabling smarter decision-making, deeper insights, and tailored interactions at scale while ensuring strong governance and data integrity. Alongside this, you will drive brand, communication, and customer engagement strategies, strengthening IAG’s market position and advocacy through meaningful, insight-led and increasingly individualised connections.

You will also play a critical role in building and maintaining strategic partnerships to expand distribution and unlock new value streams. At the same time, you will ensure robust risk management and governance practices are upheld across all operations. As a senior leader, you will inspire and develop a high-performing team, build organisational capability, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and inclusion that supports IAG’s New Zealand long-term success.

You are a seasoned executive with a strong track record of delivering growth in complex environments.

  • 10+ years’ experience in senior leadership roles within financial services or similar sectors.
  • Proven P&L ownership and ability to drive profitable growth.
  • Experience leading large, high-performing teams and shaping organisational culture.
  • Strong strategic capability with the ability to navigate market trends and disruption.
  • Expertise in customer experience, digital transformation, and data-led decision making.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills across executive, board, and external partners.
