Vitruvius is looking for a Service Leader – Civil and Water Engineering to lead our Auckland based water team, and take management responsibility for a key Auckland client.

This role is focused on building and leading a high-performing team, owning delivery outcomes, and strengthening key client relationships. You will sit at the intersection of people, performance, and project delivery, and be accountable for all three. As with all of our leaders you will contribute to the exceptional culture we enjoy at Vitruvius.

There is a clear pathway to elevation to a more senior technical or sector position (national) if that aligns with your ambitions. However, success in this role is defined first by your ability to lead, grow, and manage a team.

What You Will Do

As our Auckland Service Leader, you will:

• Lead and manage the Auckland Civil and Waters team, including performance, development, and growth.
• Provide technical leadership across complex water projects and act as a trusted advisor to clients.
• Take ownership of project delivery outcomes, including programme, budget, quality, and risk.
• Manage key client relationships and represent Vitruvius as a senior water leader in the market.
• Drive utilisation, forecasting, and commercial performance of the team.
• Build capability through mentoring, coaching, and structured development.
• Lead recruitment, succession planning, and team growth aligned to pipeline demand.
• Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all delivery

What You Will Bring to Vitruvius

Essential Experience and Skills

• 15+ years’ experience within the water engineering sector.
• Proven experience leading teams, not just projects.
• Strong track record managing complex client relationships and multidisciplinary delivery.
• Commercial awareness with experience in forecasting, utilisation, and margin performance.
• Established presence and network within the New Zealand market.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent).

Bonus Points For

• Experience leading business growth, sector strategy, or operational improvement.
• Exposure to digital tools and data-led delivery approaches.
• Postgraduate or additional leadership qualifications.
