Te Pae Christchurch is Ōtautahi's premier convention centre — proudly managed by Legends Global, Asia Pacific's leading venue management company. Creating best-in-class culinary experiences is one of our key strategic drivers, and our pastry section plays a starring role in making that happen.
We're looking for an experienced Pastry Chef de Partie to join our culinary team. If you thrive on large-scale production, are passionate about technique, and take genuine pride in every plate that leaves the pass — we want to hear from you.
You will be . .
- Assisting the pastry section day-to-day alongside our Pastry Sous Chef — from prep through to service.
- Creating a wide range of pastry items — plated desserts, petit fours, cakes, breads and more — using both traditional and modern techniques.
- Delivering world-class presentation and flavour at scale — because we don't do "good enough."
- Contributing to menu design — bringing your creativity and ideas to the table (literally).
- Standardising recipes and techniques — so every item is consistently outstanding, whether it's service one or service one hundred.
- Upholding food safety standards — maintaining records, monitoring preparation and cooking techniques, and ensuring HACCP compliance is second nature.
- Supporting dietary requirements — making sure every guest's needs are met with the same level of care and quality.
- Helping to develop the team — sharing your knowledge with a hands-on, innovative approach.

What you'll bring
- At least 2 years' experience in a similar pastry role — ideally in a high-volume or banqueting environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail — you notice the things other people don't.
- Strong organisational skills — you can manage your section under pressure without missing a beat.
- Outstanding communication — you work well with everyone, from apprentices to the Executive Chef.
A solid understanding of food safety and HACCP — it's not just a box you tick; it's how you work.
