About DataCraft
DataCraft Analytics is a data-driven services company providing expert professional services and tools in data science and data analysis. We deliver our own services and build our own products.
A large proportion of our work is in the health sector, where our software, platforms and services support Primary Health Organisations and General Practices across New Zealand.
We're proud of the work we do and the positive impact it has. Our focus is on building useful, practical tools and services that help organisations turn data into meaningful information and insights.
About the role
We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our Wellington based team.
Working within the Microsoft Azure stack, you'll primarily focus on Snowflake, Azure SQL Database, MS SQL Server and related services to manage and maintain our data pipelines and warehouse. You'll use SQL extensively alongside Python, PowerShell and .NET to automate data ingestion, manage data pipelines and transform data from large and complex datasets.
Working closely with engineering teams, you will help form insights from complex data and communicate that information in simple, easy-to-understand language.
This is a client-facing role where you'll work directly with customers to understand their businesses and information requirements. You'll collaborate with customers and internal teams to clarify requirements, deliver information needs and support data-driven outcomes.
As part of a small but expert team, you'll have a genuine opportunity to shape our products, services and the broader organisation.
About you
We're interested in people who enjoy solving problems, learning new things and working with data.
Ideally, you'll bring:
• At least 2 years of commercial experience in a data engineering or similar role
• Experience using relational SQL to ingest and transform data for end-user report delivery
• Proven experience using Python to build robust data pipelines
• High proficiency using SQL to manipulate relational data and structure stored procedures
• A passion for learning, intellectual curiosity and a strong problem-solving approach
• The self-awareness to know when to have a crack independently and when to ask for help
• Git and GitHub
• Power BI embedded reporting environments
• Health-related data
• A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial.
We're also interested in well-rounded people with interests outside of data, information and technology.
Applicants must currently reside in New Zealand and have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
Why join DataCraft?
We know most technical people would rather spend their time solving problems than sitting in meetings. Our approach is simple. We actively minimise meeting time and focus on productive output. You'll spend more time doing the actual technical work and less time talking about it.
We're a technically led organisation with a team of smart people who enjoy what they do. The work is genuinely interesting, the technology is up to date, and you'll have the opportunity to work directly with customers and see the impact of your work.
• Wellness leave
• Funded flu and COVID vaccinations
• Public transport and active travel allowances
• Physical wellbeing and eye-care allowances
• Modern Wellington CBD offices
• Sit-stand desks and quality equipment
• Free espresso coffee, tea, fruit and biscuits
• Regular team lunches and social events
• Healthy work-life balance
Does this sound like a bit of you?
