We're seeking a capable and highly organised Ranger Community to join our Hauraki team. This role supports the coordination and delivery of permissions and statutory work across the district and is well suited to someone who enjoys building strong relationships and is comfortable navigating complex operational settings.
In Hauraki, we work in close partnership with iwi, communities, businesses, agencies, and stakeholders to deliver conservation outcomes across a diverse and complex landscape. You will work closely with internal teams, applicants, iwi, councils, Treaty partners, and other stakeholders to ensure permissions and statutory processes are delivered efficiently and effectively.
With upcoming Treaty settlement implementation, the role will also involve increased engagement and coordination with Treaty partners. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of conservation, statutory processes, stakeholder relationships, and operational delivery.
The position will be focussed on:
- Coordinating permissions and statutory processes across the district
- Supporting relationship with applicants, iwi, councils, agencies, and stakeholders
- Providing coordination and administrative support for statutory and permissions workflows
- Assisting with concession, permits, and land administration processes
- Preparing clear, accurate, and professional written communication and documentation
- Supporting quality documentation, communication, and record management
- Working collaboratively across operational teams to support conservation outcomes Contributing to continuous improvement and effective process management

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong relationship-building skills with a professional approach
- Experience working with iwi, hapu, community groups, schools or local authorities
- Confident written communicator, able to produce clear and accurate documentation
- Outstanding time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and maintain a high level of accuracy while working towards fixed deadlines.
- Well-developed sense of cultural awareness, particularly in Te Ao Maori
- Flexibility to take on other tasks as reasonably required by DOC, with the ability to adapt to changing needs.
- A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance in conservation
- Comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgement
- Adaptable and able to work effectively in evolving environments
- Able to navigate complexity and ambiguity with a calm, practical approach
- Experience in coordination, regulatory, statutory, planning, operational, or stakeholder-focused roles
- A passion for Te Papa Atawhai's Kaupapa is essential as well as an understanding of Maori Tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. A full New Zealand Drivers Licence
Experience in permissions, statutory processes, local government, planning, conservation, or regulatory environments is an advantage. The salary range for this position is $65,590 to $76,589 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
