This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced policy leader to join the Treasury's Commercial Performance Division. You will be comfortable spanning across intellectual and operational leadership and willing to get stuck in to support our expert and collaborative teams make an impact.
Korero mo te turanga | About the Role
The Commercial Performance Division is responsible for strategic oversight of the government's commercial entities, mixed-ownership entities, and Crown Financial Institutions. We deliver expert advice on managing the governance of entities and the framework that underpins these assets and options that optimise financial and non-financial performance. We lead the advisory process for the governments substantial commercial dealings, align the entities with broader government objectives and lead the Export Credit office.
You will provide leadership and support the delivery of the most complex aspects of the work programme whilst providing coaching and mentoring support to help build the teams' capability. You will be required to work across the organisation and be comfortable working at pace to respond to new and emerging issues as required.

Given the breadth of work within the Division, we are seeking candidates with extensive experience in policy development and implementation and a background in either commercial performance and/or governance.
You will bring:
- Proven ability to lead work programmes. You need to be capable of addressing both systemic and strategic issues, while also ensuring that these are translated into practical, tangible actions that deliver real-world results
- A strong focus on impact and delivery, including working through others and keeping people motivated and focussed on the important, not just the urgent
- Exceptional relationship and interpersonal skills and the credibility to engage with and influence senior decision makers, including the ability to represent the Treasury in senior forums
- Curious and driven to understand what leads to better performance, with a willingness to embrace new approaches, including the use of data and digital tools, to maximise efficiency
