Nau mai, haere mai, we welcome you to consider the opportunity of working within our Manukau region whanau. We are looking for a Community Engagement Adviser to join our team.
As an experienced Community Engagement Adviser, you will be driven and committed to developing and maintaining relationships between Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility and Auckland South Corrections Facility with the local community and services in South Auckland. You will support the integration and rehabilitation of our people in care through building a database of local services in the area.
Reporting directly to the Deputy General Manager, Manukau Region, and the Community Impact Forum Chair you will have access to organisational knowledge and support from the site to help with the engagement of key stakeholders, services, and the wider local community.

The ideal candidate will:
- Have the ability to build and maintain sustainable relationships to be able to connect the two prison facilities with the South Auckland community.
- Identify and develop communication approaches and tools to maintain engagement of the two prison facilities and the local community and services to support and enhance the transition, reintegration, and rehabilitation pathway of tangata in our care.
- Have experience and have knowledge on developing databases of community groups and services
- Be skilled with written reports and oral presentations on work progression.
- Have a genuine desire to learn about the Department's work and keen to support people in care
- Be self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently

- Strong communications and community engagement skills
- Excellent networking abilities and experience to be able to support building rapport with a wide range of social and community groups. As well as having the ability to effectively build a local database.
- Experience identifying appropriate engagement tools for different audiences in the wider South Auckland community
- Well versed in the use of data capture and analysis tools and software such as excel, word and other media used in analysis of data.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand the site operations of the two prison facilities.
- Awareness of the Department's commitments to cultural values including relationships with mana whenua. Understanding of Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections Hokai Rangi strategy and principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Nga painga | The benefits
The midpoint of the salary range is $89,225 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $75,842 - $107,070 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
