Site Supervisor
Downer
Lead from the front on a major Wellington infrastructure project where no two days on site look the same.
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
This isn't a clipboard and watch from the fence kind of role.
As Site Supervisor on the Seaview WWTP Sludge Dryer Replacement Project, you'll be right in the middle of the action, coordinating crews, solving problems on the fly, keeping work fronts moving, and making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.
Based full-time on site and reporting to the Construction Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day delivery of construction activities across a busy and complex project environment. One minute you could be coordinating subcontractors and deliveries, the next you're troubleshooting site interfaces, reviewing quality requirements, planning upcoming works, or leading toolbox talks before the day kicks off.
You'll work closely with Site Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, client representatives, and the wider project team to keep momentum high and the project moving forward safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This role suits someone who genuinely enjoys being on site, thrives in fast-moving environments, and knows how to balance programme, people, safety, quality, and practical decision making without losing sight of the bigger picture.
We're looking for someone who can build strong working relationships, keep communication clear, and lead from the front, not from behind a desk.
Mōu koe | About You
You know what good site leadership looks like because you've done it before.
You're practical, organised, calm under pressure, and able to keep multiple moving parts heading in the right direction. You're the kind of person who notices issues early, deals with them proactively, and earns respect through action, communication, and consistency.
You'll bring:
- Experience supervising construction activities across live project environments
- Strong subcontractor coordination and work-front management experience
- Solid understanding of construction safety, quality, and delivery processes
- The ability to read the room, solve problems, and keep teams aligned
- Confidence managing daily site activities, logistics, and programme priorities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships on site
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Experience on water, wastewater, industrial, or major infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with NZ construction standards and quality systems
- A trade background or qualification in construction, civil, infrastructure, or a related field
